Strategic Volunteering: Career Tip #13
Career Tip #13 – Confidence booster
***
To build your confidence, get engaged in (or lead) a pro-bono project in a type of work that you have done before. If you have had experience with preparing tax returns for others, you might offer to teach a tax prep course at one of the local workforce development offices. If you are skilled in events management, then help manage an event for your favorite nonprofit. I have interviewed thousands of individuals, so I do volunteer work in helping others with their interview skills. Confidence increases as we practice what we are good at. Decide on the skills you’d like to share, and then get involved with a nonprofit that needs and values your skills.
Every month I will post 2 ingredients or career tips from my new book Strategic Volunteering: 50 Ingredients to Transform Your Life and Career until the book hits stores in October 2010. Enjoy the tips and please leave your feedback below.
