Long is Short
Long is short
It amazes me how much little Miguel (my son) can learn and do in a day. He was able to climb four different ladders and obstacles all by himself for the first time today at the playground. He also said “I did it” and “no mommy me,” for the first time today. It made me remember a quote from the book The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin that said “the days are long but the years are short.” When you have a little person growing and changing every day that quote really hits home. It relates to leadership in my head because you only to have a finite amount of time on this earth to make an impact. What are your top priorities to live and share a life of impact? Some estimated that the average person lives 960 months. How many months have you lived thus far? The point is that the days so quickly can fall into months, and the months slip into years. Make sure you have set your goals for the year and stay focused on your priorities. Robin Sharma had a great point in saying no can be uncomfortable but it can actually help you to say yes to the goals and priorities that will have the biggest impact. Sometimes you need to say no to the good in life in order to say yes to be your best!
