Develop Creative Leadership
What’s the last thing you created? Was it a new recipe, a poem, a painting, or a new product? Creativity is at the heart of innovation. Miguel (my son) seems to be creating something new every week, whether it is a new fort in the house, a new dance move, or sentence. He has inspired me to do the same. What inspires you to be creative? Is it visiting new places, listening to music, or meeting new people? I remember as a five year old, creating a slingshot with a supple stick, some tree bark and a rubber band. I had no idea that there was such a thing called a slingshot at the time, but I have been hooked on creating new inventions ever since. It doesn’t matter if others have invented the same things centuries earlier; they are still your own inventions. I can sit in front of the computer for hours redesigning my website. Developing your creativity will not only make you a better leader, but can also help you to be more resourceful. Leadership is not about arriving somewhere, but about growing and helping to develop others along your journey of life. So, the next time you are asked to find a new restaurant, or have the opportunity to take a new class or workshop, jump at the chance to develop your creativity! You may discover an inspired idea that takes your life to a new level.
